Our vision is to become a global platform that inspires, motivates, and empowers a long-term transformation in how leaders and decision makers collectively address resilience and, subsequently, create a safe, resilient, and sustainable future for all.

About Resilience First

Resilience First, a core member of the consortium, uses its convening power to advance resilience best practice by actively bringing together businesses to solve some of the most urgent and challenging issues, allowing them to learn from each other and building the consensus to pursue the transformation the world needs. Resilience First will identify important issues and activate cohorts of businesses to address them in topical networks. These networks will be tasked with ideating solutions, testing promising opportunities, and scaling their recommendations to the broader private sector through Resilience Rising’s broad communications apparatus. Most importantly, Resilience First’s networks will constantly evolve to address new issues and use its platform to champion the leadership of the business community as they implement recommendations.

The Role

As part of our plans to deliver our 2021 to 2025 goals, we are looking for a Director of Networks and Impact to support the growth of the organisation. Reporting to Resilience First’s Chief Executive and working in collaboration with the executive leadership at Resilience Rising, the Director will play a crucial leadership role in establishing Resilience First as a preeminent business network and ensuring its concept provides meaningful value to private sector organisations.

You will be experienced with managing a wide range of senior stakeholders, combining first-rate organisation skills with a strategic instinct, an eye for innovation, and commercial intellect, alongside having a strong appreciation for the ways third party organisations can influence the direction of businesses.

You will also work with the Resilience First leadership team and connect with the broader consortium’s set of organisations to bring business perspectives to key projects.

Responsibilities

Director of Network Strategy and Impact

Network Expansion, Engagement, and Content

  • Report to the Chief Executive Director, Resilience First and closely collaborate with the Director of Business Engagement to build the momentum of the business network and assess opportunities for prospective members.
  • Develop, support and deliver unique resilience initiatives that enable measurable resilience outcomes for members and the SME community.
  • Work closely with the Director of Business Engagement to maintain strong strategic partnership within the Resilience First’s membership network (Ambassadors, Champions, Members and Associates).
  • Assess opportunities from annual self-assessment and direct engagement with members to develop new network or programming opportunities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the communication and marketing of business resilience programmes.
  • Serve as the conduit to the broader consortium where opportunities and initiatives would benefit through the participation of Resilience First’s business audience.
  • Develop, implement and maintain resilience tools and guides that support businesses to build their resilience.
  • Co-create and support initiatives that enable community/geographic resilience.
  • Support the business communications programme with expertly curated content.
  • Represent Resilience First and Resilience Rising with senior stakeholders and industries figures.
  • Research, grow, and engage a global membership business network ensuring influence and reach.
  • Work with the Director of Business Engagement to implement strategic partnerships that further the organisation’s mission.

Networks

  • Establish robust and efficient governance structures, information systems and process to effectively manage the networks.
  • Support the review of annual member needs and collaborate with the Resilience First team to pilot and rollout new networks that will address the business industry’s critical resilience needs.
  • Manage the Network Manager(s) to ensure efficient and effective administration of the network(s).

Grants and funding

  • Create innovative and impactful proposals to optimize grants and funding secured to deliver key projects, thereby unlocking additional income for the dissemination of these new thought capital reports, frameworks and/or tools.

Line management

  • Coach and manage Network Manager(s) to ensure a highly-motivated, effective, and productive team.
  • Conduct annual and bi-annual appraisals.

Requirements and skills

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Operational management expertise, preferably with demonstrable experience prioritising resilience in operations and ensuring resilience is in lockstep with business needs.
  • Passion for building organisations with experience creating programs and funding growth.
  • Extensive experience persuasively engaging critical stakeholders and presenting to senior executive leadership from different backgrounds, roles and organisations, including: private sector organisations, funding/philanthropic organisations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan organisation-wide activities, with experience delivering a portfolio of projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to work in an agile and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to develop and drive effective strategies.
  • A self-starter with excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • At ease and experienced with managing a wide range of senior stakeholders from different. backgrounds, roles and organisations.
  • Influencing skills to build consensus, facilitate decision making and build strong relationships.
  • Experienced in business development and new product/service creation and sales.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience of working in a non-profit organization is useful.
  • Proven experience in identifying new partnerships and revenue generating opportunities.
  • Strong membership recruitment and engagement experience.
  • Experience working in a strategic relationship management role within a complex organization.
  • Creative thinker and outstanding in the inception and execution of programmes.
  • Proven experience monitoring and managing budgets.
  • Experience of leading and developing high-performing partnerships and teams.
  • Experienced events and marketing professional with a track record in achieving impact across a range of formats and audiences.

This is a full-time role, based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.
