Resilience First will be hosting its latest annual debate on-line in September. This year the subject for debate is:
‘This house believes that real climate resilience action needs more regulation of business for it to be effective.’
The IPCC’s latest reports present a stark warning that governments and business cannot ignore if we are to keep rising temperatures to 1.50C and try to manage the serious impacts from climate change that will test the resilience of all. And action needs to be now - this year! But, are businesses doing enough already or are many just greenwashing? Can the business community really implement the necessary changes and mitigations itself or do governments need to take a harder line to ensure compliance? Does taking care of the environment mean economic resilience? Or is today’s profit more important? All this and more will be argued over in what will be a fascinating debate.
Chair: Simon Collins, Chair, Resilience First
