Resilience First is delighted to invite its senior executive members to a panel discussion on urban resilience, in collaboration with Jacobs.

As cities across the UK look to the future, there is a clear and pressing need to rethink how planning and policy decision makers can best support the often significantly changed communities they serve. While pandemic lockdown measures can feel like a distant memory, their impact continues to influence the way we think and operate, with ever increasing numbers of people reassessing where they live, work, shop, socialise, and how often they travel and get about.

Metropolitan centres that previously depended on large influxes of commuters and workers to drive the economy during the week have been particularly impacted by a permanently changed landscape of work patterns and priorities. However, this shift also presents a unique opportunity to evolve the built environment towards a more sustainable and equitable future. Now more than ever, cities, particularly large ones, need to become more liveable. A whole of society, people-focused approach, incorporating green infrastructure, creative use of space and social equity, will be critical to a successful transition.

This event will explore the challenges faced by cities as they tackle these changes, the solutions and innovations currently being considered to support a smooth transition and the opportunities for businesses to be at the heart of a greener, healthier urban future.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Catriona Brady, Director of Strategy and Development, WorldGBC
  • Savina Carluccio, Executive Director, International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI)
